About the programme

The Hotel Management and Tourism programme trains professionals with a secondary education for the broad field of hotel management and other tourism services. The development of the tourism industry requires graduates to be prepared for professional operational, business and management work in a wide range of roles and legal and organisational forms of business in this diverse field, both as employees and as employers or entrepreneurs. This aim is reflected in the approach to education, which emphasises meeting the demand for graduates with a more universal preparation and a certain professional focus, who are able to adapt flexibly to the specific conditions of practice.

Career prospects

Graduates find work in middle-ranking commercial, operational and economic positions in hotels, public and institutional catering businesses and organisations, in accommodation, spa and recreational facilities, in travel agencies, and in cooperative, joint-stock, private and state enterprises. These include, for example, operations manager, receptionist, food technologist, inspector, employee of a sales or finance department, employee of a travel agency or other organisation providing tourist services, and entrepreneur in hospitality and accommodation services. After gaining some experience, graduates can work in these fields as managers or self-employed entrepreneurs. Successful graduates can apply to study at a higher vocational school or university.

Our students regularly take part in various competitions (mainly vocational ones) at school, regional and national level. We cooperate with several partner schools in Austria and Germany. Teaching includes professional excursions in the Czech Republic and abroad. Work placements and practical training take place at selected establishments in the region: Hotel Dvořák, Hotel Štekl, Hotel Zvon, Clarion Congress Hotel and many others.
