International cooperation
We practise English with a native speaker from the USA and explore tourism together with peers from neighbouring countries.
Anyone who wants to work in tourism and gastronomy needs foreign languages and the ability to deal with people from other countries. That is why Střední škola a Vyšší odborná škola cestovního ruchu České Budějovice takes part in international projects. In them, students speak English not only in lessons, work in international teams and make friends with students from partner schools. The projects are supported by the Fulbright Program and the International Visegrad Fund.
Fulbright Program
The Fulbright Program is one of the most prestigious international exchange programmes in the world and operates in more than 140 countries. Since 2005 it has brought graduates of leading American universities to the Czech Republic to help secondary school teachers teach English. The programme is funded by the governments of the Czech Republic and the United States; the English teaching assistants are funded mainly by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. In the 2026/2027 school year we are hosting grantee Hope Margarum, a graduate in international studies from The College of New Jersey in the USA. Under the guidance of Mgr. Paulina Stránská she takes part in English lessons and other school activities, so our students have the chance to talk to a native speaker all year round.

International Visegrad Fund
The International Visegrad Fund supports cooperation between Czechia, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary. Our project “City Games in Tourism Education” (Mobile guides in Visegrád Space) is funded by its V4 Gen Mini-Grant programme, which supports short-term mobility of young people and dialogue between the countries of Central Europe. Our project partner is the Polish school Zespół Szkół Turystyczno-Gastronomicznych im. Juliana Tuwima w Bielsku-Białej. Students from both schools first got to know each other online, then met for four days in Wrocław, and in October 2026 we welcomed our Polish partners in Olomouc. In international groups they explored the history of both cities and turned it into interactive city games in the Actionbound app. At cultural evenings they introduced each other to the customs and cuisine of their countries. The project is led by Mgr. Paulina Stránská and Mgr. Petr Kajnar.
