About the programme

During their studies, students acquire both professional knowledge and skills in tourism and a broad general knowledge of economics. Studying two to three world languages enables graduates not only to communicate fluently in these languages with clients or business partners but also to produce a wide range of documents in foreign languages.

Teaching

It is divided into six terms and delivered through lectures, seminars and practical classes. Work placements are an integral part of the course; students submit reports and seminar papers on them, and they also provide the topic of the graduate thesis. Teaching includes numerous professional excursions in the Czech Republic and abroad, as well as exchange stays at similar schools abroad. A detailed overview of the teaching is given in the following table.

Completion of studies

The graduate examination (absolutorium) consists of two parts:

  1. an oral final examination in specialist subjects (tourism techniques, economics) and an oral final language examination in English or German
  2. defence of the graduate thesis in Czech and in German or English.

Career prospects

The aim of the programme is to train highly qualified tourism professionals for middle and upper-middle positions in companies, state administration, local government and related service sectors. Graduates therefore find work in travel agencies, hotels, transport organisations, regional and municipal authorities, the foreign departments of manufacturing and trading companies, financial and banking institutions and many other organisations in the Czech Republic and abroad.

Tuition fees and payment dates

There is no application fee.

The tuition fee for both full-time and distance study is CZK 4,000 per school year. Students pay it in two instalments: by 15 October at the latest for the winter term and by 15 February at the latest for the summer term of the school year concerned. In exceptional cases the headteacher may reduce a student's tuition fee by up to 50% of this amount.

Distance study classes take place once every 14 days (on Monday or Tuesday).
Full-time study at the higher vocational school is accredited until 2030 and distance study until 2027.
